MOI PETER JULIUS
We, the youth, are often referred to as the leaders of tomorrow by our elders and government officials. We are the backbone of this new republic. We can change the future of the society. We are the light into the future.
Unfortunately, today, we choose to spend our days taking drugs. We spend our nights partying and living it up, so to speak. We sit at home in front of televisions playing games all day instead of bettering themselves or going to work. We have no vision and if we do have dreams, we do not have the drive to make attempts achieving them.
As a young person, one may dream of becoming an important personality in the community. Achieving these life goals is not a matter of wishing. It requires a lot of sacrifice. That is why some say, ‘if wishes were horses, then all the beggars in the streets would be riding’.
As we are the future, we must dedicate ourselves to hard work so that we help our poor parents tomorrow. Leaders must motivate the youth. Youth should be taught responsibility and goal setting. I fear if this does not happen, everybody will soon be supporting an entire generation of homeless, welfare families.
