Norwegian Peoples Aid (NPA) head office in Hai Jalaba-Juba was broken into and robbed of thirty nine thousand Sudanese pounds, four thousand US dollars, three computers, a telephone handset and a walkie-talkie.
“I was called early in the morning to be informed that the guard was unconscious and the offices had been broken into,” Charles Mogga the Senior Administration Officer, as he inspected the damage.
The thieves drugged the night guard in one of the most daring robberies in a long while.
The week before, six men attacked a night watchman at a school in Juba, cutting his forehead and arm with a machete before splitting the safe apart to run off with the school’s funds.
The guard, Lawrence Orbele, was rushed to hospital. The thieves cut through the fence at Juba Modern, broke the door to the office, before ripping apart the safe and emptying its contents
Mogga rushed to the office, assessed the situation, rushed to police and took the unconscious guard to the hospital for treatment.
“The South Sudan Police Service (SSPS) dispatched a team of Criminal investigation Officers (CID) to the scene of the crime to carry out investigations,” he said. “The guard, after regaining consciousness and being discharged from the hospital, was put in police custody to help with further investigations.”
